Types of Music Video
Performance: Live concert footage or the artist presented in a location or wandering around locations deemed to be meaningful or of adding pathetic fallacy to the mood/ tone/ lyrics. Often Heavy rock or rap.
Linear Narrative: The song soundtracks a story with a plot that mirrors the lyrics of the song or is empathetic to the story and mood of the song - has a resolution. Often Pop or romantic songs.
Meaningful Symbolic: A mix of images that offer some hinted at 'meaning' of the song, yet with no perceptible narrative to glue it together - they create enigmas with no resolution. Often 'serious' work.
Artistic Aspirations: The song is a part of a piece that attempts to create a deeper link to the idea of the song. Often Chilli Peppers and Radiohead.
Hybrid: combining elements of artist performing and one other category such as Foo Fighters.
